In a Q&A session at the National Council of Provinces on Tuesday, President Cyril Ramaphosa said that South Africa must ‘just relax’
when it comes to land expropriation without compensation.
Ramaphosa is of the opinion that the rest of the world does not understand South Africa’s position and past.
He also states that there was significant international support for the notion that whatever the government did with land reform would be done in accordance with the constitution and the rule of law.
He added that it must be executed in a way where property rights of all
South Africans will be strengthened, and it must not harm the economy.
He revealed that his office has not yet heard from the US regarding the tweet President Donald Trump stated he is looking into the matter.
“Love your country as you love yourself,” concluded Ramaphosa.
