Teachers suspended after Durban school racism drama

DURBAN – Two teachers at the George Campbell School of Technology in Durban have been suspended pending an investigation into allegations of racism.

Pupils at the school have accused teachers and a School Governing Body member of racism and assault.

They claim they have been called monkeys and the K-word.

Classes were suspended last week after pupils protested and demanded action.

A video has emerged in which pupils are shown disrupting classes.

At a meeting on Sunday, the SGB resolved to enforce suspensions pending a probe.
