Former Hawks boss Anwa Dramat and his two co-accused are due in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
Dramat, suspended Gauteng Hawks boss Shadrack Sibiya and Captain Lesley Maluleke face charges relating to the rendition of two Zimbabweans in 2010 and 2011.
It is alleged the forced return of the men resulted in their torture and murder.
The charges include kidnapping, defeating the ends of justice and contravening the Immigration Act.
Last month, Dramat’s lawyers called for the Police Ministry to cover their clients’ legal fees because the alleged crimes were committed during the course of their duties.
Robert McBride, the suspended head of the Independent Police Investigative Directorate, has also been charged in connection with the renditions, for allegedly altering a report on the matter to cover Dramat and Sibiya.
McBride claims the charges against himself and Dramat are politically motivated.
