Rescue Care Paramedics were called to the scene around 10:30 am. On arrival, they found one vehicle on the pavement and the second vehicle down an embankment. The driver of the one vehicle was entrapped in the wreckage with having sustained critical injuries. Whilst Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the man in the vehicle the Durban Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to free the man. The man was then placed on a manual ventilator before being rushed through to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required. A further four other people were also injured and stabilised on the scene before being transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.
At this stage, the events leading up to the collision is unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
